Dubtree Summer Shoot

Matt Simmerman, the owner of Dubtree Clothing and I are good friends.  Such good friends that we do favors for each other.  He was one of the original people that I knew that shot way back in high school.  Back then, I always thought he was so cool for some reason.  Turns out he is a pretty cool guy.  I do all the photography for him and his website.  I think that it’s amazing that something that I do can benefit my friends and create win/win situations.

A few weeks back, I contacted Luly, a girl I had met awhile ago at a house party while Matt called his friend Brian, got him in on it and we had our models.  Matt knew we wanted to do something beach themed and help beat the dead horse of dreamy summer love photos.  So shooting at Seal Beach pier with a good looking couple was our ticket in.

Luly brought her friend who did her makeup and I brought Ricardo to help assist me in the shoot.  We had a rough start with everyone being late and unprepared but the fun didn’t end there.  I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to drive through the intersection of PCH and 2nd street during traffic hours, but sitting through 4 or 5 green lights at a crawl with the whole world trying to merge into your lane pretty much describes it.

Once we actually got to the beach, it was cake and everyone had a great time.

Doing editorial shoots like this are the best.  There’s so much room to play and everyone always ends up loving the photos because they end up being more of a collaborative project than a solo one with the photographer directing everything.

I can’t wait for the next shoot with Dubtree!

This ending photo ended being one of favorite photos ever.  It just has that genuine feeling of summerlust and warm sentiments of watching the sun set.
